On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked toy manufacturers to use less plastic and more environmentally friendly materials, as well as to concentrate on creativity. We have to become Aatmanirbhar in the toy field and also appeal to the global market,” Modi said at the opening of the first India Toy Fair 2021.“
He expressed regret that India’s share of the global toy market, which is worth USD 100 billion, is so small, and that about 85% of toys sold in the country are imported. The Prime Minister also interacted with traditional Chennapatnam, Varanasi and Jaipur toy makers and urged them to innovate and make traditional toys more important to children’s shifting tastes.
